SANITIZING AND DEODORIZING

Ductwork runs throughout an entire house and is the main component of your ventilation system. Naturally, it is important to keep these ducts clean and sanitized to prevent the spread of germs and spores through the air. Mold is the primary concern with ducts, as it can easily build up in these isolated areas and can be tough to eradicate. The proper application of sanitizer and deodorizer is done through the use of a machine that can coat the entire lining of your HVAC system and should you require this service to be performed, please ask us about whether or not your home really requires it.

NOTE: this process is done through the use of a FOGGER and is up to the discretion of the homeowner (ask us why!), we use a 100% natural sanitizer and deodorizer called Benefect.

ABOUT BENEFECT

SANITIZING

Benefect provides an optional anti-bacterial spray. The duct system is coated with an anti-bacterial spray that helps to disinfect and deodorize your ductwork. This product is applied as a mist to your supply air handling side of the furnace. This product has been approved by Health Canada for use on various hard surfaces and can last up to forty-five days.

(HRV) HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATOR CLEANING

A heat recovery ventilator (HRV) brings in fresh air from the outside, preheats the incoming air during the winter and precools the incoming air during the summer. It can provide clean fresh air every day while helping to keep energy costs low. One set of ducts collects stale moist air from the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms. This stale contaminated air passes through the HRV unit and is exhausted to the outside. The other ducting system draws in fresh clean air from outdoors through the HRV unit. As the two air streams pass each other within the heat exchanger core, heat is transferred from the outgoing stale air to the fresh incoming air. There is no mixing of air streams. The HRV unit is able to capture up to 85% of the energy from the outgoing stale air. Filtered, preconditioned fresh air is delivered where you need it – in the living areas of your home.

HOW WE PERFORM AN HRV DUCT CLEANING.

• Our Technicians will inspect your HRV to ensure that it is working properly. If any abnormalities are discovered, the technician will be sure to inform the customer.
• We remove the core and the filters which are set aside for cleaning later.
• The vacuum hose is securely installed into the HRV to create negative pressure on the whole ducting system.
• The vacuum and air compressor are turned on.
• We then clean the inside of the HRV including the motors, the filters and the core, with the vacuum continuously running.
• We will then wipe clean the inside of the HRV with cleaner and disinfectant before putting the core and filters back inside.
• The HRV will be turned on and the technician will make sure that the HRV is cycling properly.
• Any messes that are made around the diffusers are vacuumed and cleaned up.

Residential Duct Cleaning

OUR METHOD

Kleen-Flo’s method of cleaning utilizes high vacuum and compressed air in combination with direct mechanical scrubbing to remove all dust and debris throughout the system. We connect our gas powered vacuum truck to the main duct lines placing them under suction. While under suction, an agitation device along with compressed air is blown through the registers and duct lines. We then run a compressed air scrubber through all the main ductwork coming off the furnace. This is vital to the cleaning process as the dirt must be loosened and worked back towards the vacuum to ensure removal. The vacuum, compressed air and the air scrubber will effectively remove dirt and debris throughout the ductwork. Kleen-Flo also covers cleaning the fan compartment and filter housing at no additional charge.
